Smyth County Broadband Initiative

Broadband in Smyth County is a big deal, there are many rural communities and citizens that either have very little/limited access to internet or have none at all.  Smyth County Economic Development and Smyth County Board of Supervisors, realizes this is a need that calls for immediate attention.  Granted, this won't be an over-night accomplishment, it will be one that takes time, dedication, community support and the right funding.  But Smyth County has begun the work and calls for all citizens to take part in the process.  Below you will find some information received from our Community Needs Survey needed to identify gaps in service coverage.  If you have questions, concerns, or would just like to weigh in and offer your input; please contact Kendra Hayden, Economic Development Assistant, at 276-783-3298.

If you want to know what type of internet you have currently available in your area or the surrounding areas, check out the Federal Communications Commission Broadband Map here.
